Update: Suspect arrested after fatal pedestrian crash in Villa Ridge

VILLA RIDGE, MO – Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for fatally striking a pedestrian on Highway 100 early Sunday morning, Fox2Now reports.

This is an update to our earlier reporting.

Authorities discovered the body of Jason Gilley, 56, lying in the roadway of westbound Highway 100 near Cromwell Drive at approximately 3:30 a.m. on May 2. They believe he had been walking down the right side of the highway when he was hit and thrown into a ditch.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received a tip after a rearview mirror at the scene, and arrested 21-year-old Washington resident James Sitze that evening. He has been charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in the death of another, and bond has been set at $10,000.
