Woman hospitalized after rear-end crash on MO-47 in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO — A 46-year-old woman was injured Monday afternoon after crashing her car into another vehicle’s towed unit on Missouri Route 47 near the city of Washington, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of MO-47 near Country Club Lane and was reported by Trooper T. R. Rosa shortly after 1:00 p.m.

The woman driving a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic northbound on MO-47 behind a 2007 Ford Edge when she rear-ended the Ford Edge’s trailer while it was stopped in traffic. The impact caused both the Sonic and the Edge to run off the right side of the roadway.

The woman was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington with moderate injuries.

The driver of the Ford Edge, a 51-year-old man, was not reported injured.

The Chevrolet Sonic and the Ford Edge sustained extensive and minor injuries respectively.
