Washington man killed in Franklin County crash on Highway 47

UNION, MO – A 45-year-old Washington man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 47 on Tuesday night.

Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Gregory M. Gates was traveling north on Highway 47 in a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser. He traveled off the right side of the road, returned to the road, over-corrected, and traveled off the left side of the road. The vehicle then skid on the road, rotated counter-clockwise, and traveled off the left side of the road again. MSHP reports the vehicle then overturned and came to a rest on it’s left side. The fatal accident happened south of Highway AD around 8:21 p.m.

Gates was pronounced dead at the crash scene at 8:35 p.m. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The Chrysler was totaled.
