Two teenage boys hurt in Pike County ATV accident

PIKE COUNTY, MO – One teenage boy was airlifted to St. Louis and another was treated at the scene following an ATV accident in rural Pike County Friday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 5 p.m. at 6025 Pike County Road 9, as a 13-year-old was driving an ATV through a field with a 14-year-old passenger. The driver failed to negotiate a turn, throwing both teenagers from the vehicle.
The 13-year-old was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries, while the 14-year-old boy was treated on the scene with moderate wounds.
Neither of the boys was wearing a safety device when the accident happened.
No other injuries were reported in the collision.
