Two people sustain injuries in westbound I-70 accident

O’FALLON, MO – Two people were injured in an accident on westbound I-70 east of Missouri 79 on Wednesday morning.

Police report Shawn K. Wilkerson, 35, was traveling west on I-70 in a 2011 Kia Soul when he lost control of the vehicle. It struck a 2015 Cadillac SRX, driven by 38-year-old Amanda D. Peters, around 11:29 a.m.

Both vehicles traveled off the right side of I-70. The Kia hit a guardrail and the Cadillac hit a tree.

A passenger in the Kia, 51-year-old Julie M. Weinacht, and Wilkerson were transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Lake St. Louis for minor injuries.

Weinacht and Peters were wearing seat belts. Wilkerson was not wearing a seat belt.

The Kia sustained extensive damages and the Cadillac sustained moderate damages.
