Two pedestrians hit by semi after stopping for another crash

EUREKA, MO – Two pedestrians were struck by semi on westbound I-44 on Tuesday morning, after they stopped to assist with a previous crash involving a semi and pickup truck.

The crash occurred on westbound I-44 near Highway 109 around 11 a.m., according to KMOV4 News. One of the pedestrians was killed and the other seriously injured.

Prior to the fatal collision, a semi and pickup truck crashed and had pulled to the shoulder. The pedestrians had pulled over to check on the crash and offer assistance when they were struck by a different semi.

Investigations into the cause of both crashes are ongoing.
