Two injured in two-car collision on I-55 NB in southwest St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO — Two people were hospitalized Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 northbound in southwest St. Louis, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-55 south of Meramec Bottom Road near Arnold and was reported by Trooper A. J. Leroux at 8:34 a.m.

A 2011 Ford Focus attempted a lane change and struck the front right of a 2013 Ford Escape, causing the Escape to run off the left side of the roadway and hit the concrete median. The Focus traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck and guardrail.

The causing driver and a passenger of the Ford Focus, a 20-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man respectively, were both transported to Mercy Hospital South with moderate and minor injuries.

The driver of the Ford Escape, a 27-year-old woman, was not reported injured.
