JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO — Two passengers were injured Sunday afternoon when an ATV overturned on Highway Z near Pevely, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident happened in the southbound lanes of Highway Z near Victory Drive and was reported by Trooper Z. P. Beckerman at 3:19 p.m.
A 27-year-old Ohio man was driving a 2016 Polaris Ranger 570 westbound when the vehicle ran around a right curve in the roadway and began to lose control. The driver overcorrected, causing the ATV to skid and travel off the left side of the roadway before overturning.
A 64-year-old Arizona woman and a 70-year-old Hillsboro man were taken by ambulance and airlift to St. Louis University Hospital with moderate injuries and serious injuries, respectively. The MSHP crash report indicates they were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Ranger 570 was not reported injured. It is unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.
The vehicle sustained extensive damages in the accident and was towed from the scene.
