Two De Soto people injured in rear-end collision on Highway 21

CADET, MO – Two De Soto people were injured in a rear-end collision on northbound Highway 21 on Tuesday night.

Gordon L. Thornton, 69, was traveling north on Highway 21 in a 1999 Ford F-350 when he came to a stop to make a left turn onto a private drive, police report. Steven J. Richards, 50, was also traveling north on Highway 21 in a 2006 Ford F-150 when he failed to stop and rear-ended the F-350. The accident happened at 19076 Highway 21 around 6:40 p.m.

Richards sustained moderate injuries and a passenger in his F-150, 46-year-old Lucinda G. Richards, sustained minor injuries. They were both transported to Mercy Hospital South. Neither injured person was wearing a seat belt.

Thornton, of DeSoto, was wearing a seat belt.

The F-150 was totaled and the F-350 sustained moderate damages.
