Three-vehicle crash on I-44 leaves one person injured

SULLIVAN, MO – A 42-year-old man was injured in a three-vehicle crash on eastbound I-44 at the 225.0 mile marker on Tuesday afternoon.

A 2009 Lincoln Towncar, driven by 50-year-old Carl M. McLaughlin, was attempting to merge onto eastbound I-44 when the crash occurred, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol. Zane F. Northrip, 42, slowed his 2018 Ford Eco Sport to let the Lincoln onto the interstate. Both vehicles continued to slow down. A semi, driven by 32-year-old Ilyas A. Haloule, struck the rear of the Ford when attempting to swerve into the left lane. The impact caused the Ford to rear-end the Lincoln.

Northrip was transported to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital for minor injuries.

All three drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Both the semi and Lincoln sustained minor damages and the Ford sustained extensive damages.
