Three people injured in head-on collision on Highway 51

PERRY COUNTY, MO – Three people were injured in a head-on collision on Highway 51 on Wednesday afternoon.

Dalton J. Schamberg, 18, was traveling north on Highway 51 in a 1992 Ford F-250 when he traveled into the southbound lanes, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol. He crashed head-on into a 2018 Ford Edge, driven by 55-year-old Lori R. Schumer. The accident happened at Racoon Lane around 3:30 p.m.

Schamberg sustained serious injuries and a 50-year-old male passenger in his Ford sustained moderate injuries. Both were transported St. Francis Medical Center.

Schumer was transported to Perry County Memorial Hospital for moderate injuries.

Both Schumer and the injured passenger were wearing seat belts. Schamberg was not wearing a seat belt.

MSHP reports both vehicles were totaled.
