Three people hurt in wrong-way crash on Hwy B in Phelps County

ST. JAMES, MO (PHELPS COUNTY) – Three people were injured, one of them seriously, in a head-on crash on Highway B in Phelps County this afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened about two miles north of St. James, near County Road 1060, at 2:09 p.m.

The driver of a 2013 Kia Soul, 24-year-old Springfield man Broc A. Losing, went over the center line and into the lane of oncoming traffic. The Kia then collided head-on with a 2013 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.

Losing and the driver of the pickup truck, 55-year-old St. Louis man Gene M. Matlock, were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

A passenger in the Kia, 25-year-old Sarah E. Rowland, of Springfield, was airlifted to the hospital in St. Louis with severe injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
