Speeding driver causes two-vehicle crash on Missouri 47

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MO – A 26-year-old driver crashed into a 2013 Dodge Journey on Missouri 47 Thursday afternoon, injuring its driver.

Jessica L. Owens, of DeSoto, was traveling too fast for road conditions on northbound Missouri 47, police report. Her 2015 Chrysler 200 skidded into oncoming traffic and the hit the front of the Dodge. The impact caused the Chrysler to travel off the road and hit multiple trees.

Jordan J. Stephens, the 25-year-old driver of the Dodge, was transported to Washington County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Stephens, of Cadet, and Owens were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The Chrysler was totaled and the Dodge sustained moderate damages.

Police report the two-vehicle accident occurred .2 miles north of Providence Road on Missouri 47 around 4:15 p.m.
