Reckless driver conducts improper pass, crashes into embankment

PIKE COUNTY, MO – A 57-year-old Sedalia driver conducted an improper pass on eastbound US-54 and crashed into an embankment on Thursday afternoon.

Police report Judy N. Hernton was traveling east on US-54 in a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria when she attempted an improper pass. She traveled into the path of an oncoming vehicle and lost control of the Ford. The Ford traveled off the right side of the road and crashed into an embankment east of County Road 31 around 12:35 p.m.

Hernton and a 54-year-old female passenger were transported to Pike County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Both women were wearing seat belts.

The Ford was totaled.
