Multiple crashes block eastbound I-64, causes significant delays

ST. LOUIS, MO – At least two crashes were reported on eastbound I-64 and caused traffic delays of over 30 minutes on Tuesday morning.

According to KSDK, a crash was reported on the southbound I-170 exit ramp to eastbound I-64 around 8:26 a.m. It caused delays and traffic congestion on both I-64 and I-170. Motorists should expect delays of six minutes on I-170 Southbound between the Delmar Blvd exit (2) and the Brentwood Boulevard exit (1D). They report the current average speed is ten m.p.h. on I-170. On eastbound I-64, motorist should expect delays of at least 28 minutes between the Forty Drive exit (27) and the I-170 exits (1A & 1B). The area is expected to be cleared by 9:49 a.m.

Soon after that crash, another crash was reported on eastbound I-64 that blocked the stretch of interstate between the Big Bend Boulevard and McCausland exits. This crash was reported around 8 a.m. It is causing delays of approximately 33 minutes. The average speed of traffic is ten m.p.h.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in either crash.

Investigations into the cause of both crashes is ongoing.
