Man injured after sideswiping truck on I-70 EB in St. Charles

Posted on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO — A 31-year-old man was hospitalized early Sunday morning after his SUV sideswiped a commercial truck on Interstate 70 eastbound in St. Charles, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-70 west of Zumbehl Road and was reported by Trooper D. O. Johnson at 3:10 a.m.

The man was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon eastbound on the highway when he failed to stay in his lane, causing his vehicle to drift into the next lane. The left side of the Yukon struck the right side of a trailer being hauled by a 2010 International Prostar truck. The impact caused the Yukon to run off the right side of the road and hit a highway sign before landing in the median.

The Yukon driver was transported by ambulance to SSM DePaul Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Prostar, a 55-year-old man, was not reported injured.

The Yukon was moderately damaged and had to be towed from the scene. The Prostar sustained minor damages and was in operable condition.
