Collinsville man seriously injured in I-170 rollover collision

ST. LOUIS, MO –  A man from Collinsville was hospitalized in serious condition following a multi-vehicle crash on I-170 Wednesday morning.

According to the official crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-70 near Scudder Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m.

Troopers at the scene believe 59-year-old Roger Payne was struck by the driver in a 2008 Acura sending both vehicles off the side of the freeway. Payne’s vehicle overturned after striking a median while the other vehicle struck a guardrail.

Payne was transported via ambulance to SSM Health DePaul to be treated for potentially life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash.
