Child killed, woman injured in Jennings hit-and-run

JENNINGS, MO – A toddler was killed and a woman was injured in a hit-and-run collision near an intersection in Jennings on Saturday night, the Riverbender reports.

St. Louis County Police were called to the 5500 block of Jennings Station Road at 10:08 p.m. on May 29 after receiving reports of a pedestrian collision there. A young boy, aged about 2, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman in her mid-20s was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. She was carrying a baby in a car seat, who appears to have been uninjured.

Investigators believe the trio had been crossing the street from east to west when they were hit by a southbound vehicle that was whipping around traffic stopped at the intersection of Jennings Station Rd and Emma Avenue. The vehicle left the scene without stopping.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the fatal hit-and-run contact them as soon as possible.
