Springfield man struck and killed by truck driver in Laclede County

RICHLAND, MO (LACLEDE COUNTY) – A pedestrian from Springfield who was walking on I-44 was hit and killed by a semi-truck driver from Oklahoma in Laclede County on Thursday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on westbound I-44 at milepost 143.8 just after 7:15 p.m.

36-year-old Cullen T. May was standing in the road when he was struck by the 58-year-old driver of a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia, Tipton J. McCurley, of Eucha, Okla.

May was pronounced dead just before 7:30 p.m.

McCurley was not reported as injured in the collision.
