A police chase was reported in Jefferson City late Wednesday evening.
At around 10:20 p.m., officers patrolling near the intersection of Hughes and West McCarty Streets noticed a silver Ford and identified it as a wanted vehicle. Authorities attempted to apprehend the driver, but he quickly fled the area. A police chase ensued, ending after the two occupants of the car exited the vehicle and ran toward a wooded area. A police officer was shot, while one of the suspects was killed after officers returned fire. The second suspect was arrested soon after. The injured officer was hospitalized and is expected to recover. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and will release more info when appropriate.
