Infant, girl, and 2 men injured in multi-vehicle crash on I-44 near Oakland

OAKLAND, MO (ST. LOUIS COUNTY)  – Four people, including an infant boy and a 10-year-old girl, were hurt in a crash involving a semi-truck on I-44 near the Oakland area this afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on I-44 eastbound, near Berry Road at around 2:16 p.m., after the driver of a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze, 25-year-old Festus man Patrick F. Wilson III, failed to keep his attention on the roadway. He did not notice a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 36-year-old David W. Reich, of Kirkwood, that was stopped partially in the lane and had its emergency lights activated.

The Cruze collided with the driver’s side of the Tahoe, then skidded into a 2016 Freightliner Conventional semi-truck being driven by 38-year-old Vasovic Miodrag, of Miami, Florida. The Cruze then ran off the right side of the highway and crashed into a guardrail.

Reich was taken to the hospital in St. Louis for the treatment of moderate wounds.

Wilson sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A 10-year-old girl riding in the Cruze sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital in St. Louis for treatment.

Another passenger in the same vehicle, a 1-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries and was also brought to the hospital.
