Hyundai Santa Fe brakes fail, crashes into semi on Highway Z

WENTZVILLE, MO – A 2014 Hyundai Santa experienced brake failure and crashed into a semi on Highway Z on Tuesday morning.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Jackie E. Willis Jr. was traveling south from an exit ramp on Highway Z when her brakes failed. She attempted to swerve to the right to avoid a vehicle but crashed into a semi. The impact caused the Hyundai to travel off the road and hit rock wall around 11:34 a.m.

Willis was transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis for minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Hyundai was totaled and the semi sustained minor damages.
