Cycling Sports Group Inc. of Wilton, Conn. has recalled front racks with bamboo trays for Cannondale Treadwell bicycles due to the potential for the racks to detach and cause the bike to stop abruptly. About 1,975 racks were sold in the United States, and an additional 114 were sold in Canada.
Cycling Sports Group was notified of two incidents, both of which resulted in injuries. In the first incident, the tray detached and contacted the bicycle wheel causing it to suddenly stop, and the rider endured cuts and bruises from the resulting fall. In the second, the rider was not so fortunate. He or she suffered bruises and a concussion.
Treadwell bicycles with front racks were sold for by authorized Cannondale dealers April 2019 through June 2020 for $950 – $2,750. Racks were sold separately for $100. Each rack has a black metal frame with “ISO11243:2016 YUENI MAX 10KG” printed on the bamboo tray.
