3 dead, 4 injured following apartment fire at E 23rd St and Kate St

GRANITE CITY, IL – An apartment fire at E 23rd St and Kate St took the lives of 3 people and injured four others Thursday, Fox 2 Now reports.

The fire began in the seven-unit building around 12:45 p.m. Of the three people that died, one was a female and the other two were males.

15 people were able to make it out of the apartment, some of them by jumping out of the building. Four people were hurt, but none of them were critically injured.

The fire is under investigation by the Illinois State Firemarshalls office.
