Bicyclist seriously injured in collision with motorcycle in St. Clair

ST. CLAIR, MO – A woman was seriously injured yesterday evening when her bicycle was struck by a motorcycle that had whipped onto the shoulder in an attempt to pass another vehicle, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Brian Bell, 27, was riding his Suzuki GSXR750 south on Highway 47 when he entered the right-hand shoulder near E Happy Sac Road and collided with Lois Pappademos as she was riding her bicycle. Both riders were thrown from their vehicles as a result of the crash, and were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington.

Pappademos’s injuries are said to have been serious, while Bell’s were classified as minor.

Bell, who was not insured, will likely face multiple criminal charges as a result of the crash.
