55-year-old female pedestrian killed on westbound I-64

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL – A 55-year-old woman was hit and killed after she got out of a black Chevrolet Malibu and walked into oncoming traffic on westbound I-64.

Rena Wood, of Hartsville, TN, got out of the Chevrolet, which pulled over on I-64 at mile marker 11.5, and for unknown reasons walked onto I-64, according to KMOV4. A vehicle hit her and fled the scene around 6:30 p.m.

Wood was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

Police later located the hit-and-run driver. They have not reported if the driver will face charges or not.
