Man killed, woman injured in crash on icy bridge in Crawford County

LEASBURG, MO (CRAWFORD COUNTY) – A man was killed and a woman was injured when a car crashed while crossing an icy bridge in Crawford County this morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision happened near Leasburg, on I-44 eastbound, at the 213 milepost, near the Little Bourbeuse River, at 8:38 a.m.

The operator of a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer SUV, 50-year-old Danny E. Evans, of Cuba, Missouri, lost control of the vehicle while crossing an ice-covered bridge. The Blazer went off the side of the interstate and rolled over.

Evans was ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital in Sullivan, where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 a.m.

A passenger, 51-year-old Tracey A. Evans, also of Cuba, was taken to the hospital for the treatment of moderate wounds.

Danny Evans was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred, while Tracey Evans was.

The SUV was totaled in the accident.
