7-year-old boy shot, 12-year-old boy injured in attempted home break-in

ST. LOUIS, MO – A 7-year-old boy was shot and a 12-year-old boy was injured on Tuesday evening after the children attempted a home break-in in the St. Louis Place neighborhood, according to KMOX.

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. in the 1800 block of North 20th Street.

A 23-year-old was remodeling the home and said he feared for his life after hearing banging noises and breaking glass from the rear of the building.  He shot at the children whenever he saw them climbing in via a broken window.

The boys fled, and the younger was shot in the leg. The older child was hit by debris in the wrist. Another 12-year-old boy was involved in the incident but was not harmed.

The 23-year-old man was not injured, and the boys were in stable condition whenever they were sent to the hospital.

An investigation is underway at this time.
