27-year-old driver sustains serious injuries in I-70 crash

ST. LOUIS, MO – A 27-year-old female driver sustained serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash on westbound I-70 on Monday evening.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, an unknown vehicle was at a stop in one of the lanes on westbound I-70 when a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo, driven by 27-year-old Jazmin Cruz Ruiz, rear-ended the stopped vehicle. The collision caused a 2021 Honda Pilot, driven by 48-year-old Mohammad Younas Aftab, rear-ended the Chevrolet.

Cruz Ruiz was transported to Christian Hospital EMS.

The vehicle that was stopped on the interstate fled the crash scene.

Both the Chevrolet and Honda were totaled in the crash.
