24-year-old Imperial driver crashes into grass embankment

BLACKWELL, MO – A 24-year-old Imperial driver crashed into a grass embankment in St. Francois County on Wednesday morning.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Melissa A. Wheat was traveling west on Upper Blackwell Road when she lost control in a curve. Her 2020 Chevrolet Equinox traveled off the right side of the road and hit a grass embankment. The accident happened at Cole Road around 7:04 a.m.

Wheat refused medical care at the crash scene, but later went to Washington Memorial Hospital. She was wearing a seat belt.

The Chevrolet was totaled.
