FLORISSANT, MO – 23-year-old Frederick Schaljo was charged with DWI-death of another on Monday, November 16 for a May 24 crash.

According to St. Louis Post Dispatch, Shaljo lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a fence in the 2300 block of Sunset Park Drive on Sunday, May 24 around 5 p.m. A fence pole went through the passenger window and killed 21-year-old Nathaniel Hei.

Police report Shaljo’s blood-alcohol count was .235 percent which is almost three times higher than Missouri’s legal limit of .08 percent. There were numerous open and closed bottles of alcohol found in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

According to court documents, Schaljo was allowed to go free on bail. However, the judge placed a few restrictions on the bail, which included no alcohol, illegal drugs or firearms, and a lock on his vehicle’s ignition.
