20-year-old driver runs stop sign, Mitsubishi hits multiple trees

IRONDALE, MO – A 20-year-old Potosi driver ran a stop sign in Washington County and then crashed into multiple trees on Friday morning.

Police report Scott A. Ferguson failed to stop at the stop sign at Highway U and Highway M when his 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer traveled off the road. The Mitsubishi hit several trees around 8:40 a.m.

A passenger in the Mitsubishi, 19-year-old Cori L. Beard, was transported to Parkland Health Center – Bonne Terre for moderate injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Ferguson was wearing a seat belt.

The Mitsubishi was totaled.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
