17-year-old driver injured after vehicle hits tree in Jefferson County

DE SOTO, MO – A 17-year-old driver was injured after he crashed his 2014 Jeep Patriot into a tree on Tuesday morning.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the teenager was traveling north on Highway V when he traveled off the right side of the road, hit a mailbox, and hit a tree. The Jeep came to a rest back on Highway V north of Brittany Lane around 10:53 a.m.

Police report the 17-year-old driver, of Desloge, was transported to Mercy Hospital South for minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

The Jeep was totaled.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
