Young woman injured in two-car collision near I-55 in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO — An 18-year-old woman was injured Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving two vehicles near a ramp to Interstate 55 in Imperial, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred on Imperial Main Street over I-55 and was reported by Trooper T. H. Elliston at 2:00 p.m.

A 44-year-old man was heading eastbound on Imperial Main Street in a 2001 Buick Sentry and waiting to make a left onto the I-55 ramp when he failed to signal and drove into the path of a westbound 2018 Nissan Sentra and struck the second car.

The 18-year-old woman was a passenger in the victim Nissan Sentra and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with minor injuries.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra, a 48-year-old woman, along with the driver of the causing Buick Sentry, were not reported injured.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damages and were towed from the scene.
