Young man struck by car after accident on I-44 in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO — A 21-year-old man was injured Monday morning when he was struck by a vehicle moments after having been in another crash on Interstate 44 in Franklin County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-44 near milepost 247 in Union and was reported at 6:12 a.m.

The man had exited his 2005 GMC Sierra, which was blocking the right lane on I-44 eastbound after a prior accident. An eastbound 2007 Ford Taurus struck the man and then the Sierra.

The young man was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington with moderate injuries. His condition has not been disclosed.

The driver of the Taurus, a 35-year-old man, was not reported injured.
