AUBURN, MO (LINCOLN COUNTY) – A woman was killed, and two people received minor injuries following a collision between an 18-wheeler truck and an SUV in Lincoln County yesterday afternoon.
According to a crash report posted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway B E, near Lilley Ln (Rt 603) at 1:10 p.m. as the driver of a 2013 Freightliner semi-truck, 33-year-old Brandon K. Spensberger, of Bismarck, Missouri, made a turn into a private driveway.
36-year-old Elsberry woman Takesha N. Johnson, operating a 2005 Dodge Durango, drove into the left lane in an attempt to pass the truck, and the front of the SUV collided with the driver’s side of the truck.
The impact caused Johnson to be ejected and for the SUV to roll over and land on its passenger side.
She was pronounced dead at about 1:45 p.m.
Spensberger and a passenger in the Durango, 33-year-old Elsberry man Vincent L. Thompson, received minor injuries in the collision.
Spensberger was taken to the hospital for treatment, while Thompson was taken home by a Missouri State Trooper.
Both drivers reportedly were wearing a seatbelt in the crash, while Thompson was not.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
