Posted on Sunday, December 26th, 2021

DE SOTO, MO (JEFFERSON COUNTY) – A woman was killed and two other people, including a child from North Carolina, were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route H in Jefferson County this evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Route H, east of Dry Creek Road at 9:05 p.m., after the driver of a 2007 Scion TC, 37-year-old Lonedell woman Amy L. Veit, partially drove off the right side of the highway. She then overcorrected her vehicle, and it started to skid.

The Scion went over the middle of the road and began to spin. The right side of the vehicle then crashed into the front of a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup truck being driven by 36-year-old Joshua L. Cook, of Pevely.

Veit was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:23 p.m.

Cook and a passenger in the Ram, a 12-year-old boy from Cameron, North Carolina, both suffered minor injuries in the crash. They refused transport at the scene.
