Woman killed, another injured in Phelps County wrong-way crash

JEROME, MO (PHELPS COUNTY) – One woman died and another was injured in a wrong-way crash yesterday in Phelps County, according to a crash report published by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident happened on Highway D, about half a mile west of Jerome, at around 4:40 a.m. A 40-year-old Dixon woman, Charity L. Baker, crossed over the center line and into the lane of oncoming traffic.
Baker’s 2013 Chevrolet Malibu collided head-on with 34-year-old Jamie L. Alexander, also of Dixon, who was driving a 2019 Ford F-150.
Baker was airlifted to the hospital in Columbia, where she died of her injuries at about 9 a.m.
Alexander was taken to Phelps Health for the treatment of moderate injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt when the accident occurred.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
