Woman hospitalized after multi-car crash on I-270 near Bridgeton

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — A 51-year-old woman was injured Wednesday afternoon in a rear-end collision involving four vehicles on Interstate 270 near Bridgeton, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident took place in the northbound lanes of I-270 south of the merge to Interstate 70 at 4:30 p.m.

A 2018 Hyundai Elantra failed to slow while approaching stopped traffic and rear-ended a 2012 Nissan Sentra. The impact caused the Nissan Sentra to strike the back of a 2016 Honda Accord, which then rear-ended a 2011 Ford Escape.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra was transported by ambulance to Missouri Baptist Medical Center with moderate injuries.

All vehicles, with the exception of the Ford Escape, were totaled in the accident and towed from the scene. The Ford Escape received moderate damage and was able to be driven away.
