JEROME, MO (PHELPS COUNTY) – Three people, including two teenagers, were injured in a rear-end crash on I-44 in western Phelps County yesterday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The collision happened at 1:55 p.m. on westbound I-44, near the 172.6 mile marker in Jerome, as the driver of a 2004 Buick Lesabre, a 17-year-old girl from St. Robert, began to slow down. Her vehicle was then struck from behind by 21-year-old Newburg resident Jessica L. Penfield, who was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart.

The teen driver and two of her passengers, a 14-year-old boy from Rolla and 22-year-old Christian D. Givens, also of Rolla, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Penfield was not reported as injured.
