Two people sustain injuries in Jefferson County intersection crash

DE SOTO, MO – Two people were injured in a crash at the intersection of Highway 110 and Fountain City Road on Tuesday morning.

Juanita L. Carrithers, 76, failed to yield when turning from eastbound Highway 110 onto Fountain City Road and her 2014 Chevrolet Impala struck a westbound 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on around 11:09 a.m., police report.

Carrithers was transported to Mercy Hospital South for serious injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, 25-year-old Sara M. Kimbrough, was transported to Mercy Hospital South for minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Police report both vehicles were totaled in the crash.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
