Two people seriously injured in head-on crash on US-61

TROY, MO – Two people sustained serious injuries when two vehicles collided head-on on northbound US-61 on Monday night.

Police report 91-year-old Harold A. Harke was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on US-61 in a 2017 Dodge Journey and hit a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer, driven by 28-year-old Rebecca C. Riegerix, head-on around 6:58 p.m.

Harke, of Old Monroe, and Riegerix, of O’Fallon, were both transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Police report both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Both vehicles were totaled.
