Two people killed in westbound I-70 crash in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO – Two people from St. Louis were killed in a crash on westbound I-70 early Thursday morning.

Laci L. Lowrey, 30, was traveling west on I-70 in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala when it traveled off the right side of the interstate, Missouri State Highway Patrol reports. The Impala hit a guardrail, returned to the interstate, traveled off the left side of the interstate, and hit another guardrail. This impact pushed the Impala back onto the interstate into the path of a westbound 2012 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 49-year-old Jesse L. Lane. The front of the Suburban hit the front of the Impala. MSHP reports the fatal crash happened east of I-170 around 4:24 a.m.

Both Lowrey and a 28-year-old male passenger were pronounced dead at the crash scene at 4:35 a.m. Neither Lowrey nor the passenger were wearing seat belts.

Lane was uninjured and was wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles were totaled.
