Two people injured in westbound US-50 accident

BEAUFORT, MO – Two people were injured in an accident on westbound US-50 east of Greenstreet Road on Wednesday night.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Christopher R. Helling, 26, was traveling east in 2009 Dodge Charger when he traveled onto coming traffic. His Dodge hit a westbound 2014 Ford E-450 passenger bus, driven by 61-year-old Tamara L. Godefroid.

The bus rotated and overturned. Whereas, the Dodge traveled off the south side of the road and ended up in a ditch.

Helling, of Owensville, sustained serious injuries and was not wearing a seat belt. Godefroid, of St. Clair, sustained minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt. Both injured people were transported to Mercy Hospital Washington.

The Dodge was totaled and the bus sustained extensive damages.
