Two people injured in two-vehicle accident on Highway 221

IRONTON, MO – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on southbound Highway 221 at Shy Road on Friday afternoon.

Mark A. Tinkler, 64, was attempting to turn onto Shy Road from southbound Highway 221 in a 1998 GMC 1500, police report. Jamie L. Gebhardt, 39, was traveling southbound on Highway 221 in a 2004 Buick Rendezvous and failed to keep a proper lookout. She swerved into oncoming traffic in an attempt to avoid the GMC, but still hit the vehicle around 1:20 p.m.

Tinkler, of Ironton, and Gebhardt, of Farmington, were transported to Parkland Health Center – Farmington for minor injuries. Police report Gebhardt was wearing a seat belt, but Tinkler was not wearing one.

Both vehicles were totaled.
