Two people ejected, injured in Washington County ATV accident

MINERAL POINT, MO (WASHINGTON COUNTY) – Two people were injured, one of them seriously, after being ejected from an ATV in Washington County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened in Mineral Point at the meeting of Pond Creek Road and 6th Street at 2:49 p.m. when the front right tire of a 1987 Yamaha ATV fell off while the vehicle was in motion. The ATV then drove off the side of the road and collided with a bridge.

Driver Ryan L. Schumacher, 25, and 24-year-old passenger Dakota C. Dement, both of Bonne Terre, were ejected from the ATV during the crash. Neither of the two was wearing a safety device when the accident occurred according to the report.

The two victims were taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries for Dement, and moderate wounds for Schumacher.

The ATV was completely destroyed in the collision.
