Two killed, one injured in accident on I-270 in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO – Two men were killed and a third was injured in an accident on northbound I-270 on Tuesday night.

According to Missouri State Highway, the accident happened at mile marker 21.4 around 7:50 p.m. Joseph J. Dunn, 49, and Gary M. Grier, 69, were standing on the left side of a semi that was pulled to the right shoulder partially blocking the right lane. Clinton F. Britton was traveling north on I-270 when his 2018 Chevrolet Trax struck both the rear of the semi and the pedestrians.

Grier, a resident of Hazelwood, was pronounced dead at 8:07 p.m.

Dunn and Britton were transported to SSM Health DePaul Hospital. Police report Dunn died at the hospital at 8:52 p.m. Britton sustained minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt.

The Chevrolet was totaled and the semi sustained extensive damages.
