Trucker injured after rear-ending SUV in traffic

Posted on Friday, December 3rd, 2021

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO – A truck driver was injured yesterday afternoon when he became distracted and collided with an SUV stopped in traffic, which caused his semi to run off the roadway and overturn.

State troopers say the crash happened on northbound I-270 just past Dorsett Road at about 4:40 p.m. on December 2. McKenzey Steele was not paying sufficient attention to the roadway, and failed to notice that the Honda H-RV ahead of him had stopped for traffic. Steele attempted to swerve away from the Honda but was unable to do so in time, clipping it on the back passenger side. Steele’s Freightliner then ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Emergency responders took him to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.

No one in the other vehicle appears to have been injured.
