Three people killed, one injured in Jefferson County accident

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO – Three people, including an infant, were killed and one person injured in a crash on eastbound Missouri 30 on Tuesday night.

David G. Thurby, 26, was traveling east on Missouri 30 in a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol. He failed to keep a proper lookout and rear-ended a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 25-year-old Lacey K. Newton. Both vehicles traveled off the right side of the road and hit several trees west of Upper Byrnes Mill Road around 10:05 p.m.

Newton and two passengers in the Pontiac were pronounced dead at the crash scene at 10:25 p.m. MSHP identified the deceased passengers as an infant and 30-year-old Cordell S. Williams.

Thurby was transported to Mercy Hospital South for minor injuries.

Newton and the infant were wearing seat belts. Thurby and Williams were not wearing seat belts.

Both vehicles were totaled.
