SPRINGFIELD, MO – Officials have reported a fatality following a collision involving two teenagers under 15 Sunday afternoon.
According to KY3, the incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. along North Dade 217 several miles from Everton. Investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say a 13-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a truck when it skidded off the roadway and hit a tree.
A 14-year-old who was riding in the bed of the truck was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Neither the driver or passenger were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
